Just called... And have been heard by one of the prime minister's staff. Come on guys, call again - let's make him aware of how many people are in favour of this!

Just talked with Finland´s Prime Minister´s secretary about pushing for higher cuts and involving ALL CITIZENS, not just the industry, to make everyday cuts - choosing the bus instead of the car etc.
by Elina Seikku12/9/2009 9:43:01 AM
Left message on answering machine saying how disappointed and shocked I am that after Gordon Brown's strong words at the weekend UK has been part of the leaked draft deal and let's offer some serious real cuts now before it's too late.

Could not get to speak to anyone but left a message demanding that as my representative they do more to inspire my confidence that Copenhagen is really going to make a difference and not just spin.

What worries me is we are STILL talking about growth in aviation / car usage when - hard a pill as it is to swallow we have to accept that flying and driving are key contributors to CC alongside high energy. We in Europe and especially in North America have to take a CUT in our living standards.
by Paul Hopkins12/9/2009 9:45:58 AM
Climate problems are more than money. After 50 years coulb be money for nothing, if we will not have the clean air and water.

Left a message with Gordon Brown's Climate Chang Unit to say remember the Stern Report - make serious commitments now and it will save money in the long term
by Rebecca Nestor12/9/2009 9:48:24 AM
I really do hope that Europe will take its responsibility. The lives of lots of people are at stake. Let's face the real issues!
by Hilde Desmet12/9/2009 9:50:01 AM
Told Gordon Brown that it's time for real leadership and ambitous cuts and investment. The recession we are in will be nothing compared to what will come from climate change if we don't take action now.
by Mark Johnson12/9/2009 9:51:24 AM
that't a great initiative on an extremely urgent issue...the only problem for me (us!) is that we have to deal with Berlusconi, and how could someone barely trust this guy??!! sorry, I guess that Italy is out of the game for this reason, but please keep fighting!
by licia from italy12/9/2009 9:51:42 AM
left a message to say I was concerned that Copenhagen was not going well and wanted him to back the DESERTEC project and to make sure that the people of Africa can continue to live in Africa and not be forced to migrate.
by Peter Kent12/9/2009 9:52:32 AM
Just left message on Gordon Brown's climtae change answerphone asking them to put themselves 100 years in the future looking back at their in-actions and wondering how the world could have not realised that the planet was in crisis and money was the stumbling block that tripped us all up. Blessings on us all
by Nixie James-Scott UK12/9/2009 9:53:07 AM
It is time to show real leadership
by Nic Slocum12/9/2009 9:53:12 AM
Well, I left my message ... seef they listen, eh?
by doug livesey12/9/2009 9:53:16 AM
Left a message to say that dealing with banking crisis will become an irrelevance if climate change is not tackled. Now.
by David Gledhill12/9/2009 9:54:56 AM
Left a message to say how important these talks are and how we are relying on GBs influence and that of his advisors. Concern about how things are being sabotaged by those not wanting to believe in climate change or our ability to make a difference.
by Pat12/9/2009 9:55:01 AM
Told Gordon Brown that the leak is good news - there is nowhere to hide! I also pointed out that plastic production causes 6Kg CO2 for every Kg of plastic made. We use 35Kg each, every year. This uses 6% of the world's oil consumption.
by chris from Scotland12/9/2009 9:56:00 AM
I shared that we, my family and I is concerned about the future of our planet and asked if they can give priority to environmental interests above all
by marcel kronenburg12/9/2009 9:56:03 AM
BAN IT and we deliver a 6% cut immediately.
by chris from Scotland12/9/2009 9:56:35 AM
Told Gordon Brown to show leadership, even go out on a limb unilaterally if necessary. And especially told him to stop this nonsense that business needs more and more flights and to start incentivising teleconferencing etc. I moved from a lot of travel to web training and meeting and never looked back - far more people should do this.
by Griff12/9/2009 9:56:44 AM
Left a message asking Gordon Brown to start acting like a man and do some actual good for a change, people lives are at stake here and more importantly the planet. It really is disgusting how we have destroyed our home to the verge of all life being threatned, purely through greed.
by Iain from Scotland12/9/2009 9:57:07 AM
Just called PM Balkenende's ministry in The Hague. I'm not sure I got the right person on the line, but he promised to pass on my call for action.
by Ivo Hilderink12/9/2009 9:57:47 AM
called the austrian presidency office and placed my wishes for a strong voice in copenhagen.
by Andy Fraunberger12/9/2009 9:58:09 AM
Left a msge asking GB to show real leadership and secure emissions cuts of at least 30% and some real (additional)money on the table...

I was calling Angela Merkels office. The lady on teh switchboard refused to give me her mobile number. But she promised to leave a messsage to rescue a real deal.
by Matthias, Germany12/9/2009 9:59:22 AM
I think they've switched to answerphone in the UK - hate making phone calls, but just made a brief statement of support for effective changes. I did it, so can you!
by Roushan12/9/2009 9:59:27 AM
Just talked to sekretery of primeminister in the Czech Republik, saying how important is his aktiv contribution in Copenhagen talks.
by Marie Larsen12/9/2009 9:59:42 AM
Papandreou was elected on the basis of promises, promises, promises. To be honest, Greece on the whole is not concerned with/not interested in the climate change issue. One only needs to come here to determine that. Whatever is done will have to be initiated by other countries, who would then have to force Greece to succumb and adapt. I'm so glad I haven't convicted any kids to the very bleak future that awaits this planet...
by Sophie12/9/2009 9:59:44 AM
I left a message expressing dismay that UK was party to the leaked Copenhagen document. I demanded that the UK government represent the views of the electorate — compared to the bailout of the bankers with no conditions attached, the UK's attempt to impose almost double CO2 cuts on the developing nations would be laughable if it were not tragic.
by David Cross12/9/2009 10:00:12 AM
And I just want to ad: the European Union was once founded with an ideal in mind: to create a prosperous and peaceful Europe. I think it's at moments like these where the true value and potential of Europe shines. The EU, as slowly as it goes, has to show leadership, especially inn those fields where the USA, China, Russia, etc. refuse to take responsibility. Let us show the world how countries can truly unite under one flag, one dream and use their power for the right cause.

I'm just back from a trip to Chicago. I have noticed, with great disappointment, that all lights (Christmas lights on trees and buildings) are left on 24/24. In bars and restaurants air conditionining is always running, even if there are 0°C outside. I can't imagine what happens in places like New York or Las Vegas. So, Mr Obama, why don't you start turning off useless lights during day time and air conditioning in winter in your city and your country? It would be much healthier, would allow you to save lots and lots of money! It's completely useless and ridicuolours to fly to Copenhagen when your country behaves like that!
