The TiE Texas Funding Forum is starting soon and StartupHouston will be LiveBlogging the event! Stay tuned for more updates LIVE!
The event is starting.

The format is a roundtable format, which is a little different than what you might be used to for other events like the Rice Alliance Venture Forum. There are 9 roundtables and 2 companies per table. Each company gets 15 minutes to present and 15 minutes for Q&A.
Sorry there was a gap with nothing posted. Since this is a roundtable format, I've been running around to different tables to take photos and then coming back to upload and post. Lots more about to get posted.
Ashok Rao, President of TiE Houston kicks off the event with a joke. Quick Version: It doesn't matter what you wear to an investor forum, either way you're going to get screwed [Crowd laughs]. Talks then about TiE as an international organization that has branched out in terms of the community of entrepreneurs that it serves.
Kannan Kalliyur, President of TiE Austin, is up next. Talks about how over 55 companies submitted business plans and only 20 were chosen (also, correction, there are 10 tables of Entrepreneurs and Investors, not 9). Excited that TiE is able to find a strong foothold in Houston like Austin. There are companies here from Houston / Austin / Dallas / India.
Kala Marathi, Managing Director, Houston Angel Network (HAN), gets up to speak about how HAN supports entrepreneurs and how they are involved with this event.
Walter Ulrich, President and CEO of the Houston Technology Center is up next. Talks about how great it is to see TiE Houston flourish and how much effort has been put in by Ashok Rao and others to make that happen.
Earlier, Ashok Rao, TiE Houston asked all of the presenting companies to stand up. Here is a photo:
A couple of last notes about presenters.
Walter made a comment about how there are people in the room that represent $200 Million potential investment for entrepreneurs.
Kannan Kalliyur also made the comment that TiE stands for Money and Mentorship as well and that they are having an event this Saturday that discusses online marketing. More info here:
