Tony Morgan is a putting on a surprise workshop in place of a speaker that could not attend... good stuff. We'll see what he talks about.
his twitter is @tonymorganlive and you can find his book and his thoughts here:

Tony is confessing his lack of C.S. Lewis knowledge... funny.
Leadership will be the talk of the day.
Tony's at Westridge Church in NW Atlanta... for those wondering where he landed after leaving NewSpring Church in S. Carolina
Tony started his leadership in City Management.
Have you found yourself in a place reacting to things around you... or are you focusing your time & energy where God wants you... responding to His Call on your life?
5 reasons for Killing Cockroaches (reacting instead of responding):
1. settle for something that is not God's plan - Genesis 11-12
settle in places that are: comfortable, easy, pleasant, et cetera
take time to focus on God's call for your life, listen and do what He says, be obedient
after hearing from God... set expectations, by verbalizing clear and intentional vision.
2nd reason for killing cockroaches (reacting instead of responding):
1. settle for something that is not God's plan - Genesis 11-12
2. Ministry will outgrow you - Acts 6
are your opinions becoming louder as you grow older?
are you doing the work of God, but not doing the work God called you to do?
Acts 6:7 - as a result of lifting the leadership lid, empowering the volunteers the church/influence grew.
in ministry we teach our young leaders how to lead but don't allow them to lead.
let young leaders fail, as it is a great way for them to learn to lead.
3rd nd reason for killing cockroaches (reacting instead of responding):
1. settle for something that is not God's plan - Genesis 11-12
2. Ministry will outgrow you - Acts 6
3. too focused on execution and not outcome - Parable of the Talents - Matthew 25:14-30; Luke19:12-28
Parable of the Talents read through the perspective of the master not the servants...
encourage our young leaders with what we've entrusted them with.
Great leaders will lead your ministry if you focus on the execution instead of the outcomes.
4th reason for killing cockroaches (reacting instead of responding):
1. settle for something that is not God's plan - Genesis 11-12
2. Ministry will outgrow you - Acts 6
3. too focused on execution and not outcome - Parable of the Talents - Matthew 25:14-30; Luke19:12-28
4. avoid giving volunteers opportunity to both serve and lead - Ephesians 4:12

5. Embrace fear and pride instead of humility - John 3:30
Tony is sharing a great story on embracing humility rather than fear and pride.
story has to do with a weed eater, his fear of all things mechanical, and number of #'s in the key of D.
John 3:30 - God must increase as we decrease, embrace humility as leaders or else pride will creep in... in the form of fear and anxiety
Tony's question for you: Do you wrestle with Pride or Do you wrestle with Fear? Either one takes us away from the ministry God has for us based in a posture of humility.
good stuff today by @tonymorganlive
Tony's taking questions now... and I'm out, check back at 1:30 for some more workshops.
