Strong bash the bankers message and marr pushed Brown on his health
Brighton packed with delegates and daytrippers enjoying bbq autumn
Miliband junior performing with phrase "Operation Fightback" on screen behind him. Draws standing ovation from delegates
Brown talking to prospective candidates now. Lot of bellicose talk from all about being up for the fight and facing battles
hall has been far from full this afternoon - mind you it's a cracking day outside, or so I'm told
blogging from #labconf
or should that be #lab09
another cracking morning in Brighton. focus today in the hall is the economy (stupid), with Mandeslon and Darling speaking #lab09 #labconf

Darling will be giving more detail on how the banking bonus crackdown is going to work -- do it now or we'll do it for you. #lab09 #labconf
Spanish PM Zapatero is guest of honour here this afternoon tho I'm told he doesn't speak much English. We shall see/ hear. #Lab09 #Labconf
Mandelson keeps calling Conservative leader David Cameron a flibberty gibbet #Lab09 #Labconf
Rumours abound that Mandelson will announce an extension to the car scrappage scheme which has nearly run out #Lab09 #Labconf
fortified by fish n chips on the beach, with hungry seagulls looking on hopefully
Most overused conference phrase? - "they just don't get it" (about the Tories)
"There's work to be done," says Mandelson after a very noisy speech to Labour delegates. Understatement of the conference? #Lab09 #Labconf
Spanish PM Zapatero telling Labour conference Gordon Brown has shown great leadership on the international stage -- they are lapping that up
Norwegian PM Stoltenberg has just given Labour some tips on how to win an election
Matt and I just had a drink with Feargal Sharkey.
Mandelson's speech has certainly livened things up. One minister told he was a cross between Michael Heseltine and Kenneth Williams
Having met Feargal Sharkey yesterday, Nancy Dell'Olio was at the Guardian bash last night.
A sign of how bad it is for Labour now -- influential left-wing journalists are expecting the worst. One likened this conference to a wake
It's the quiet before the storm - theme of the morning is "Resonsible Britain" and some fairly worthy speeches going on

Queues are already huge for Gordon -- one hour to go
That's the way, aha aha is playing loudly in the conference hall as we wait for Gordon.
bit of a rumpus in press room after first copies of Brown speech given to PA "to distribute to broadcasters" under embargo #lab09 #labconf
Despite all the fuss and all the defeatism, GB's speech is sure to be seen as a triumph. The leader is never given a flat reception.
There will be cheers, there will be standing ovations, there'll be past glories relived and jibes vs the Tories and there will be cheesy music
Last year Sarah Brown gave him the kiss of life, let's see what theatrical coup he can pull off this time
Sarah is introducing him and now we have Curtis Mayfield playing over a clip of people praising GB. Is Gordon meant to be superfly?
Couldn't find any delegates that didn't like Gordon's speech. Funny that.

Policy blitz or policy blizzard. Saw Nancy Dell'Olio again.
Not quite the party atmosphere (no pun intended) of last year's speech -- but there was a bit of isolated dancing and some balloon punching.
off to see alistair darling at fringe event...
Chris Eubank is knocking around here
Mood among GB's advisors has soured because of news that the Sun has decided to support the Conservatives at the next election
But remembering the good times, Jim Godfrey is playing piano and Ben Bradshaw is singing I'm a believer
Not sure if the Culture Secretary singing Yesterday is such a good idea
Conference seems very quiet today. The Sun have dropped Labour and Brown's speech is a distant memory.
Aides to Brown insisting the camp is not too bothered about the Sun backing the Tories.
Waiting for lord mandelson at busy fringe meeting
Just got refused entry to a Miliband/Ainsworth seminar on foreign policy. What are they cooking up now?
Had a wander around Brighton to talk to locals. Mixture of apathy and disgust at British politics. Getting the vote out might be tricky...
Five UK banks just signed up to G20 pay pledges...
Last day at the Labour party conference. Brighton taxi drivers say they will be glad to see us all go.
Press room is deadly quiet. Last year, when David Miliband spoke, it was rammed. No rumours of a leadership coup this time round.
It's Freshers week down here in Brighton. Late night scenes of drunken hoards of students mingling with conference folk.
They are starting to wind it up now.
The Red Flag, Jerusalem and M People's Movin' On Up bring an end to this year's Labour party conference in Brighton. Oh, and hand-clapping.
Wonder what the Tories will play as mood music next week? Maybe someone should issue a double CD - Labour's raves and Tory toe-tappers
