We're off.
OK, that was fast! Peter Molyneux is here, and he's talking about his Mission.
We have an announcement about Fable 2 - something new called Fable Episodic.
They're splitting Fable 2 into five chapters and releasing them via download, it seems. Once you've finished one chapter you can pay for the next.
This is from September the 29th.
First chapter is free! Clever.
"This is great from a developer's point of view - are you enjoying this? You could buy the next episode, or buy the whole thing - keeping them in-game."
Fully compatible with Knothole Island and "See the future" - wait, what?
Here we go - FABLE III!
He's just ripped a curtain away to reveal two Fable 3 signs, bless.
"The third child is always the problem child, whether it be human being or games."
"We want people to expect the unexpected. I want the fans to say to me, OI! You should clean up this and that from Fable 2, naturally, but I really want to give you something new."
"The first way of doing this is giving you new game mechanics." "We made steps forward with the dog in Fable 2."
He's still on about the dog.
Ooh, he's going to tease us. "I think there is something fundamentally wrong with Fable. With all RPGs. There's something insidiously built into the game. I'd like to take that foundation stone and throw it away."
He's not going to tell us what it is. Dammit.
"Now - how can we totally surprise you with the story and the drama?"
We're getting a wee overview of the Fable history. "In Fable I, you were one of many heroes - by Fable II the age of heroes was dying out. How can we take a big step forward with Fable III?"
"For me, it's all about power - about you feeling powerful." He's showing us the teasers from the Lionhead website over the past few days.
Teaser for Fable III!
Huge close-up of a crown. Fake Judi Dench from Fable II is going on about how Albion needs a ruler.
The crown's abandoned in a forest, as it zooms out to reveal the logo. That's all we're getting.
"That is what you're going to become in Fable III - the ruler of the whole of Albion."
Choices will affect not just your own game experience, but the entire kingdom.
"I want players to FEEL what it's like to be a ruler."
"Looking at our iconic leaders - Gordon Brown (laughs) or Obama - the history of mankind is based around these iconic leaders."
He wants us to be able to eradicate poverty. We are the world, etc.
Or! We can by tyrants and keep all the moneys for ourselves.
Concept shot of a henpecked-looking king - your advisors/spouse is going to be pushing you in different directions.
"We want you to be ruler, but we're not going to give it to you straight away." Half of the game is set in what they call the "Journey to Rule".
