Hey Carl...how's it going
Sorry to hear that private - hope I can point you in the right direction today
Yeah looks a cracking day, lots of handicaps, class races...nice mixture although ground at Curragh and Haydock could make for some strange results
The 2:05 at Haydock. I have Barry Hills runner Makaamen top-rated and being by Selkirk he won't have a problem with the ground conditions
Yeah he looks good for that but like you say, whether he wants heavy is another matter. Captain Gerrard won't mind it but is out of form, Look Busy will handle it but needs to improve
Deceptive though, never really cuts up even when heavy
Bet365 Race overview for the 2:05 at Haydock...
Race Overview: MAKAAMEN is confidently selected here ahead of Film Set, Enact and Exceptional Art. The Barry Hills-trained selection comes here chasing a hat-trick following wins at Doncaster and Newbury. The latter proved that he handles this sort of ground as one might expect from his pedigree and he fully deserved his 5lb rise in the weights. A big danger to the top-weight is likely to be the Godolphin-trained Film Set. He has also only had three runs and although he was a tad disappointing on his final start last season (handicap debut), the step back up in trip is in his favour and he may be more at home back on a soft surface. Cheviot has been frustrating to follow this season and tends to race too keenly, so a bigger threat may be the consistent duo of Changing The Guard and Wannabe King who lurk towards the bottom of the weights. Quanah Parker is better than his final start last season, whilst Enact and Definightly need to bounce back to form following poor latest runs. Exceptional Art, second to Saucy Brown on his comeback in a conditions race at Doncaster, must be considered given his lofty reputation but he needs to prove that this mark is right for handicaps and so we are happy to stick with the progressive colt Makaamen.
I am hoping it will drift to 4/1 but even if it doesn't I am not going to go against what I think will win just to back something bigger than 4/1
Ok for the FREE bet I am going to go for EXCEPTIONAL ART @ 8/1 and then have a cover bet on MAKAAMEN
EXCEPTIONAL ART - 5pts e/w
MAKAAMEN - 5pts win
Yeah, in hindsight should have taken the 4/1 earlier today but been a busy morning
EXCEPTIONAL ART won on his debut on soft ground by 6 lengths, outclassed in a GP1 in France and looks relaxed enough type to get this 7f...worth an e/w anyway I think
Miss Eze by Danehill Dancer will definitely not mind the ground, not sure about Enact though...good luck folks
Good start
12/1 and +70pts profit so far...That is us with a FREE 5pt bet in the Newmarket 2:20 now
Bet365 Race Overview -:
Race Overview: A bit of rain would do PALAVICINI'S chance no harm at all but even a repeat of his recent second on quick ground here might be enough and he is confidently selected to see off the challenge of Your Old Pal and Big Bound. John Dunlop has his horses in fair form and this looks a good opportunity for Palavacini. His official rating makes handicaps unrealistic and although he has to clash swords with Your Old Pal again, this looks a winnable race. He has won on good to soft and his leg-action suggests that a bit of cut is best, so any rain would be appreciated in his quest for a second career win. Your Old Pal is 5lb worse off here for a head success over this course and distance and although he has improvement in him, this Rock Of Gibraltar colt is taken on today. Heliodor is a course and distance winner but disappointed when he was sixth to the aforementioned pair, whilst Father Time and Big Bound need to improve on what we have seen so far this season. Rendezvous was a winner on his debut at Chantilly but was then turned over at 1/5 on his next start at Longchamp behind Chock A Block (beaten since on his British debut). The former Andre Fabre inmate has his first start for Sir Michael Stoute this afternoon and the market may help guide to his chance. A tricky jigsaw puzzle to solve but the piece that fits looks to be Palavicini.
I have him top-rated here Carl but not much between him Palavacini and Father Time. I actually had a word for Father Time ;-)
Why's that then ?
I am a big fan of Giants Causeway and John Dunlop has been running into form lately so the 5pts FREE bet is going on..PALAVACINI in the 2:20 at Newmarket
