Oh yes, some drums and whistles starting now. This bit of protest due to start moving any minute.
The march has set off. Numbers, maybe 400? The sun has gone in too.
Ho ho, the ethical man from news night has just gone past. strangely, he's not wearing a suit.
There are journalists everywhere! One lone anarchist is surrounded by people making notes of everything he says.
As the green horse, minus horse, sets off, the climate campers are left, looking a bit shifty and exposed.
Am off to meet up with some climate campers now. Away from Bishopsgate everything is strangely quiet. Just the helicopter overhead.
Am now meeting up campers, in preparation for The Swoop at 12.30. There are a lot of sirens going off. Hmm
The campers i'm with have a large bike trailer with the toilets on it. Otherwise known as some buckets and a bag of sawdust.
We're pacing back towards the target now, anxiously watching the clock. If we miss kick off there will probably be no way in.
More campers have joined us, while they,re apparently coming in from east and north. Txt msgs flying.
Sirens and police vans pouring into the area. Is there going to be a kettle?
The pavements are packed. There's a really good turnout, everybody very tense now...
More people pouring in all the time. Police on one side of the road.... And now moving into road and taking it
A whistle goes, some tents going. Up around me...
Police seen to be backing off... A round of applause, and some hugging going on.
The campers that is, not the police.
ny to watch.
A sound system is in place, flowers are being hung over the tents. Am going to see if the toilets made it.
Everyone looks beatifically pleased with themselves. The police slightly less happy.
Interestingly the police don't seen to have shut off the demo, people are coming and going as they please.
And yes! The toilets have made it. They're being constructed in a marquee as i type. Nice bit of drumming too.
And now it's kind of settling down. Everyone wandering around as if this is some sort of festival.
We're all now comfy outside the european climate exchange. Will the workshops be starting soon?
Simon hughes lib dem mp has just gone part. He's pretty impressed by the whole thing.
As he says, if the mountain won't come to mohammed we'll have to come to the mountain.
Mmm. Sun bathing...
Some dancing on top of a bus stop. The man next to me says I know exactly how much weight those things can take. I wonder how?
Some of the plane stupid crew are here. Turns out it was their tent that got confiscated.
Am walking down to the bank of england now. Atmosphere changed immediately. No drumming here, for a start.
Some police pulling riot gear out the back of van. Am in threadneedle St with bank in sight.
Can hear whistles and cheers as helmeted police go into crowd. It's packed here.
Most of the protesters are kettled in front of the bank.
There is a worrying stink bomb smell. Now that would be good dispersal tactic. Have never heard of it though.
More police coming in in helmets, three vans of them. They are gathering within sight of the bank.
Police going in with dogs. The crowd screaming abuse at them.
Now the helmets going in. Howls of scum.
A scuffle, the police pushing those of us outside the kettle back. A chant going up. Whose street? Our street.
The helicopter. A rattle or two. Some chants. Odd, tense atmosphere.
A real sense of stand-off.
Lot of fighting going on in the centre now. Huge shame on you chant going up.
Am heading back to climate camp. Can tell am nearly there when see banner reading The beginning is Nigh.
Like a different country over here. There are kids still in uniform, people snogging on the road, even someone pushing a buggy.
And A A Gill just walked by! Yup. We're not in kansas any more, toto.
Someone just walked past complaining that there were no joints being smoked. Time and a place mate, alright?
There is, of course, a queue for the toilet.
