Reggie McNeal is talking about what "missional" is...
I've pretty much forgotten to write anything cause Reggie is totally resonating with what I have been thinking about
we have to get away from thinking about church as a place/destination--Reggie McNeal (in my words)
we don't have a taxonomy for the forms that Church is going to take--Reggie McNeal (in my words0
"we are going to see a shift in the scorecard." "is it how many kids we have at vacation bible school....do we have the courage to say how many hungry kids are in our town, or how are marriages doing in our town...." Reggie McNeal
Do we have the courage to stake our scorecards, not based on how busy we are, but on what impact we are actually making...
"if we have the courage to look for a world where the impact is beyond us, then it might be said one day...you know that group of leaders, at the intersection of ministry in North America, is the greatest generation of leaders." Reggie McNeal
Dino Rizzo is up from Healing Place in Louisiana....been hearing great things about this ministry and the work God is doing there.
f"inding out there is a whole lot more right with the church, than wrong with the church." Dino Rizzo
have to say that I agree with dino
make sure to check out as well....he's the master live blogger :-)
@freshairpoet, awesome. welcome!
stuck at home today...been attending the conference via web
ice, girls at home and heat went out...Ahhhhh
bummer, yeah, a lot of people stuck at home or having to cut out early due to the weather...
Main sessions have been outstanding today....
wish I could have been there for the break outs.
are we celebrating the opportunity to do life with people who see life differntly, Dino Rizzo
i like how Rizzo says that as the older he has gotten, the more he has come to appreciate all the different styles of church, worship, etc...I think that allows him to see the church as doing more right, than seeing it as always doing things wrong, etc.
"if you want to get used by God, then meet me Saturday morning at 5pm...I'm 18 years old, I've never seen that early on a Saturday morning..."--Rizzo
Rhett - take good notes bro - b/c the feeds just aint feed a brutha
Rizzo talking about his pastor asked him to get involved in intercessory prayer....
he's in the prayer group with 6 elderly women....this is 6 weeks into becoming a Christian.. pastor says, "if you want to serve in this church, then this is where I need you"-Rizzo
6 months he was a part of that group...his pastor knew--if he didn't know the power of diversity, then he could never be used to do things in the Kingdom...the church wasn't about his wants and desires, but about reaching all kinds of people
most convicting scenes as he was helping build a church and operate multiple sites, etc....the scene in John 5...Jesus leaves the temple and where the religious people have gathered...and Jesus finds some people that have been "left out" and "forgotten about." Jesus goes from the feast in Jerusalem to a person...group of sick and hurting people
Soc - is it wrong that my second favorite chapterc in Confessions of a Pastor by Craig Groschel is "I have prayer meetings"?
oops
it isn't either or, it's both and, "truth and life."--Rizzo
Jesus is there and no one is watching...walking among people who are having different challenges than He has...inspires Rizzo as a leader, pastor, team builder, etc..
it brings me back to what it is all about...guarding my heart for people--Rizzo
the reason why God has called us is about reaching people...and more and more they are becoming different than us...and how do we address that? Rizzo
being around a diverse group of people..hurting, sick, etc...helps keep us normal--Rizzo
the chapter "I hate prayer meetings"
really like Rizzo's teaching style...comes across as very real, authentic, humble...
church and ministry would be amazing if we could do without people--Rizzo commenting on how a pastor he looked up to joked about that
Rizzo wanted to make sure he never got to that point
can't get the live feed to come up
that's not very INNOVATIVE
opposites are going to have to attract in the coming days...God is going to have to give us grace and mercy to reach people that are different than us--Rizzo
the integrity of our ministry is how we minister to the one, not just the masses..not matter how big..how well do we minister to one person..often times a person different than us--Rizzo
the Church was the first responder in LA during the hurricanes
"their issues had issues" // haaa
am i talking to myself here
Holy Spirit tapping him on the shoulder to go back to the church and help people when he (Rizzo) wanted to go home....
"This is why you got ministry...to turn them away?" what Rizzo heard God saying to him
