Like Martin Luther King said... "we have a dream", and hope Obama will make it true.

I have great hope --- but also great fear about Obama - we need to push him hard and make sure that the pressures he responds to are ours. I'm so happy to be part of Avaaz because I feel that together we can do it!

Obama has been brought to this moment in large part by thousands and millions of people coming together to work for change, specifically through the internet -- which is the purpose of Avaaz as well. What will happen now as Obama's presidency begins will depend on whether people continue to work together like this. Obama has said that he wants the activism his campaign sparked to continue. But it will be all too tempting for him to settle into cliches and compromises like so many other politicians, and to look for guidance to his advisers and opinion polls rather than to the people who helped him to rise so high. And it is tempting for us to rely on him to bring the changes we hope for, and to sink into disappointment when he does not. Obama is a good, intelligent, gifted man but it is only with our participation -- supporting him, pushing him forward, and working outside and beyond the frameworks in which he can act -- that the promise of his presidency can bear fruit. Obama has famously, and beautifully, said, "We are the ones we’ve been waiting for, we are the change that we seek." We -- not him alone.

Thank you, Justin, for saying the rest of what I wanted to say...We will inevitably endure disappointment, but must not let it settle into cynicism and destruction of this fragile new creation of us all...'supporting him, pushing him forward, and working outside and beyond the frameworks in which he can act...'. Our job is also to continue to work together and sustain hope by the results of group action as with Avaaz. Bravo Avaaz and thank you to everyone worldwide who has joined in even just in thought, to make this happen. Huge thanks to every US citizen who voted for Obama. We in rest of world would have been seriously cranky with you if you hadn't got him in!

Here, here Justin. We must ensure that we do not all rely on one to do the world's job. He alone will not be able to do it, but together with all of us hand in hand. We can!!!!!

Dear Mr Obama. Congratulations on becoming president. I wish you every success and hope that you, and other world leaders, manage to stop the world from destroying itself.

The lastest US poll gives him 2 years to bring about change, it is going to take al lot more time than that to change the attitudes, mind set from "might is right" to one of humility and cooperation. I need to remind myself that I have just as much responsibility in my small way to contribute to the changes I wish to see by remaining active - Thank you Avaaz for providing one opportunity to join with the world citizens to be part of that change.

It is so wonderful to have real hope and the possibility of actual change. President Obama has inherited a mess, nationally and internationally, that may take years more than his presidency to clean up. But the integrity, the commitment, the concern for the least among us is there -- and that already is a MASSIVE difference! I am with you 100 percent.

I can't recall any moment in my life when the sense of hope and of new possibilities has been so powerful. I know that President Obama will do some things that I will disagree with, and that I will regret some things that he is unable to do, but he is a man of integrity and intelligence, courage and vision, a man whose vision of the world is not bounded by his own state or nation but who understands the developing as well as the developed world's needs. It's been a long time coming, but this extraordinary moment is here now, and I know I will be weeping tomorrow as I did on election night, thinking of Dr King, and all of the other martyrs of the Civil Rights movement, thinking of all of those who've worked and argued and struggled to make this possible. Rosa Parks sat so that Martin Luther King could walk. Martin Luther King walked so that Barack Obama could run. Barack Obama ran so that we ALL could fly. Mr Obama, Mr President, I wish you strength, and courage, and the audacity of that hope you've inspired.

Israel's Greater Zion project continues underneath the general public's radar: A "land-grab" of Palestine by way of ethnic cleansing. It would be good to find an American President, as leader of Israel's principal sponsor, who saw past the Jewish Lobby's propoganda - but then 3% of your population does provide 60% of your financial backing.
