1' And we're off, City in the traditional Sky Blue, Portsmouth playing in their changed dark blue strip. City running from left to right.
2' Early corner for City, Petrov crosses, but headed away.
3' An immediate counter attack from Utaka nearly lands City in trouble but Webber is too long on the ball and loses possession.
4' WHAT A CHANCE, Shay Given is flapping like a magpie (haha!) as he palms it straight to Utaka who blazes wastefully high. Will Pompey regret that miss..
6' Slightly nervous start by both teams, both under some pressure for the three points, City need them to keep pace with Liverpool and the likes, whilst Pompey need it for sheer confidence and belief one might think.
8' O'hara calls for a short corner and takes the shot low at Shay Given. Pompey don't look like they're going to lie down today.
10' A Pompey long ball is just too long for Hreidarsson, goal kick City.
12' Nice ball from Adebayor to Petrov, City building in passes.
14' Barry fools a couple of Pompey defenders with timing to lay off for Ireland, his shot goes out for a corner.
15' Corner cleared by Pompey.
15' Zabaleta crosses dangerously but again cleared from the box.
17' O'hara lofts the ball into the box, Zabaleta heads out for a corner.
18' Corner is dealt with by City, but straight back to Pompey.
19' Tevez runs up the left flank as his cross is put out for a corner.
20' Company corner is cleared all but for Toure to retrieve the ball, skin O'hara and cross, but it's another corner.
21' This time David James get's it from the corner.
22' De Jong plays a wasteful ball into the box, they were in a good position there and he simply threw away possession. Mancini isn't the happiest.
23' YELLOW CARD; Wilson; Ireland slips a beaut of a ball to Tevez who is brought down by Wilson.
24' Petrov decides to have a crack from distance after the free kick hit the wall, not to far away.
26' Tevez plays the ball back across the box to Ireland who shoots straight at James.
27' SUBSTITUTION (PORTSMOUTH); Hreidarsson -> OFF / Finnan -> ON; The captain goes down and he's in to much discomfort to continue, that's blow for Pompey.
29' O'hara swings a free kick straight to Given.
30' City break straight away, and all of a sudden its a corner to the Sky Blues.
30' Good ball from Petrov, De Jong gets up but heads wide. James wasn't to sure whether to come out or not for that one, and it nearly cost him.
31' Petrov tries a through ball for Ireland, but there's too much juice on the pass.
33' Zabaleta trudges of the field, he's not looking to flash, City might have to make an early substitution of their own as well.
34' So not many clear cut chances in the first half hour, however, City slowly getting on top it seems.
35' James boots it up the field, Utaka holds the ball well, as Pompey look to press.
36' Ireland is currently covering for the injured Zabaleta.
37' CROSSBAR!! A super move by Pompey, Utaka and Van Den Boore combine well, all for the the latter's shot to whack the crossbar as City clear their lines. City will have to work for these points if they want them, it will be no easy stroll.
38' SUBSTITUTION (CITY); Zabaleta -> OFF / Onuoha -> ON
40' GOOOOAL! Adebayor checks his run, great ball from Ireland, and one-on-one with James, the Togo man drills it home! 1-0 to City.
41' Here's a talking point, the replay's are showing a possibly offside Adebayor as he made that run. It was a close run thing, as many offside decisions are, but using the old cliche, we've seen them given.
42' So we're nearing half time, and Pompey will consider themselves unlucky, but they can't drop their heads.
